In thestudy, comparison of the management ideas of ecological thought and environmentalprotectionism, which are taken into consideration as the two different types of ecologicalapproaches, is aimed. In this context, Social Ecology trend is chosen as a sample forecological thought and Sustainable Development thought is chosen as a sample forenvironmental protectionism. The management ideas of Social Ecology and SustainableDevelopment are compared according to the general frame of the study.This study contains three main chapters except introduction and conclusion. Inintroduction, basic concepts related with the subjects of this study are examined andwith respect to these concepts, the problem of the difference of ecological thought andenvironmental protectionism is discussed.First chapter consists of the observation of the subject which forms thetheoretical principal of the study. The relation between the ecological problems andmanagement ideas are discussed in this chapter. Thereafter, Social Ecology andSustainable Development are examined. Both of the approaches are examined withregard to their spiritual structures, principals, viewpoints to the ecological problems,aims and targets.In the second chapter, the management ideas of the Social Ecology andSustainable Development are examined. In this examination, a common systematic,which contains basic problems in the management ideas, view to the sovereign systemand the principals of the management ideas, is used. With reference to this basic, adetailed analysis is realised on the liberty problem, view to the sovereign system,liberalistic regional management and confederalism, which are the basic elements of themanagement politics of the Social Ecology, which is a radical world view. Similarly,governance, the position and the view to its treatment of the government in managingprocess and the different levels of management politics are examined as a basicmanagement approach also in Sustainable Development. Also, the local levelmanagement politics are examined.Third chapter is reserved for the comparison of the management ideas of SocialEcology and Sustainable Development. In the comparison, firstly parallel points andthen the contrary points of the two approaches are interpreted. Topic comparisons arerealized with regard to the parallelisms in management foresights, views to the arising ofecological problems, positions against sovereign system, ideological attributions andtheir applicabilities. As they appear in the content of different ecological approaches, thecontrary points of the two thoughts are more than the parallel points.
