Item Obezite ve periodontal hastalık arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi(Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2005) Taşdelen, Pelin; arpak, Nejat; Diş HekimliğiDetermining of the Relationship Between Obesity and Periodontal Disease Various epidemiological and clinical studies have demonstrated the relationship between obesity and periodontal disease. As a result of these studies which have been for this purpose; possible cause of the relation is shown TNF-a and PAl-1. Obesity characterized with increased adipose tissue and main cells of this tissue is adipocytes which releases leptin, İL-6, İL-ip, PAİ-1, TNF-a and adiponectin, are metabolically active. Increasing of adipose tissue, strengthens the effect of TNF-a release depending on periodontal disease at adults. PAİ-1 is the main inhibitor of plasminogen activators and can be released by adipocytes too. Increased level of PAİ-1 in circulation makes adults open for infection by decreasing local blood flow. CRP is produced in liver hepatocytes as an answer to increased İL-6 level. But the other important known source of İL-6 is the adipose tissue at obese persons. At the presence of periodontal disease, LPS of Gr(-) periodontal pathogens can stimulate producing of İL-6 in adipocytes. Obese persons are characterized with increased İL-6 level in circulation. Successful weight loss causes decreased İL-6 level. It's known that, the presence of obesity makes differences at lipid metabolism too. On the other hand, there is not a study which investigating these parameters between obesity and periodontal disease. The aim of the our study was to investigate the relationship between periodontitis which is an widely infection progressing chronically and81 asemptomatically, and obesity which causes mortality and morbidity affecting various systems in human body. In this study 200 person are examined. These person have filled inquiry form about their habit and education status. Periodontal examination is made by taking PI, PD, BOP and supuration measurements from4 surfaces of every tooth. Also by taking height-weight measurements and waist-hip values; BMI and WHR have been calculated. FBG, TK, TRG, LDL, HDL,CRP,TNF-a and PAl-1 levels have been examined in their blood sample. At the results, an understandable relation is found between PI and AL with VKI groups. When we look at the relation between periodontal parameters and blood parameters, while there is a (+) relation was found between PD, AL and TRG, PAİ-1, there is a (-) relation was found with HDL. As we look at the relationship between WHR and periodontal parameters; PI, AL, PD a relation is found at females, while any of them occurs at males,. A relation is found between FBG (p<0,05), TRG(p<0,01), HDL(p<0,01), CRP(p<0,001), PAl-1(p<0,001) and BMI groups; as we look at the relation between BMI and blood parameters. PAl-1 is found in relation between both periodontal parameters and BMI groups. TNF-a has no relation with any other groups.
