Abstract

orulmaz, Ayşe, The Results of The Cohabition From The Aspect of İntercultural/İnterreligion Relationships and Education, Master?s Thesis, Advisor:Prof. Dr. Cemal Tosun, 142 p.Hatay is one of the exemplary cities in which people of different religions and ethnic groups have managed to live together for centuries. Thus in this study it has been aimed to determine the opportunity of cohabitation despite the differences; the effect of education, especially education of religion, on forming cohabitation; and its responsibilities to support this kind of a life.In order to carry out the research, people from different religion and race living in and around Antakya were negotiated with. The findings obtained were evaluated by being examined with the method of content analysis.In the end of the research it has been seen that different religious and ethnic communities in and around Antakya live together without conflict; that they produce a common experience though they preserve their identities; and that as a result, there is a social structure in which they are effective on each other?s development and transformation. It may be supported that there are common experiences connected with historical past and social trust in the basis of cohabitation.It has also been determined that education is an element that supports cohabitation and it even lessens the hindrances before the relations among groups. And education of religilion is supposed to an obligation while there are various ideas about its place, statute and contend.
