dc.description.abstractAbstractDeveli is one of the district of Kayseri. In the working area, which average height is around 1500 meter, there are some mounth Erciyes, Develi and Tauros. Rural population of Develi was increased from 1935 to 1975. But later on population was started to decrease. The increasement of urban population of Develi between the period of 1935-1975 was the slow, however after 1975, the increasement of population gained speed. Since along time there is a permanent immigration from district. In the development of the city it is seen two periods since 1900 till today. In the first period state investments ar in effect, in the second period private enterprises are seen mostly. As a service city Develi opposed face to face about the danger of bad urbanisation (gecekondu) because of the speed in the increasement of population. The great section of the district area is pasture. But stock farming is not developed. In the towns the source of livelihood is agriculture. The role of Erciyes mounth and Sultan Marshes is very important in tourism. In addition, in district there are caves, mosques, tombs, rock churches, underground cities Hittite rock relief, and etc.
