Abstract

The study is divided into three separate chapters each devoted to a specific purpose. The introductory section which includes the importance of the research, the objective of the study followed by problem statements, limitation of the study, as well as, methodology of the study and resources of the study are discussed and it's finalized by the history, administrative structure, and economic system of the Golden Horde State. The first chapter provides a comprehensive study of the religious policies of the Golden Horde Khans by discussing the religious status, life and ground situations of the respected communities which belongs to the Golden Horde Khans. Furthermore, the study examines the possibilities, conditions, and state of affairs of spreading the major religious influences in the Eurasian steppes. Moreover, this chapter reviews the real success of Islam by the majority of the Golden Horde, by examining their practices, creed, mystical and cultural dimensions. The second chapter discusses the foundations of the religious policies of the Golden Horde Khans. Followed by the political life of each of the Khans, their religious beliefs, their views on religions, and the policies they applied to their subjects belonging to various religions, from the establishment of the state to its collapse are analyzed. As well as the chronological approaches of each Khan to religions and religious groups and their relations, notably the policies they implemented in the period before and after Islamization are mentioned accordingly. The third chapter offers the religious factors in the foreign policy employed by the Golden Horde Khans. Firstly, the effects of religions in its relations with other Mongolian Dynasties were emphasized, then the religious factors in its relationship with the Islamic world and the importance of religion in the search for alliances were evaluated. Likewise, the religious elements in the relations of the Khans with the Catholic and Orthodox Christian world and the effects of the Christians in these relations were revealed. The study concludes with the religious life in the Golden Horde and the religious policy of the khans.
