At the introduction; information about the method and sources, about the social and religious status in Syria and Lebanon before Christianity, about the birth of Christianity at the region and its spread, and about the Christianity in Lebanon before the Maronites was given. At the first section; Looking over the discussion about the term 'Maronite', the origin of the Maronites, Ascetic Marun and the Monastery of Marun, and the Monothelitism doctrine, whether the Marun monks were the supporters of the Chalcedon council or Monophysit monks or not was studied. Also at this section; the origin of the Maronite Church, John Marun's life, his episcopacy, his appointment as the patriarch of Antioch, his relation with Merede or Merdeites, Jarajima and the Maronites was argued. The Maronite Sect is dedicated to John Marun who has lived in the VH.th. century and it is claimed that he was the first patriarch of Antioch. At the second chapter, the hierarchical structure of the Maronite Church and the Maronian's religious ceremonies were studied. By determining the structure of the church, we studied the hierarchy of the religious staff their duty and responsibilities and their authority on the society. Besides, we have searched the the Maronite liturgy, their ceremony books and ceremonies and the celebrations and the festivals and the customs during the liturgical year at the Maronites. Marriage, birth, death and funerals of the Maronites and also their traditions and believes were studied. The Maronite Church is one of the first Uniate churches.
