Abstract
The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of salt applications to soil at different ratio and doses on growth of bread (Gün) and durum (Çakmak) wheat species. For this purpose, in greenhouse experiment, salt solution preparing from NaCl:CaCl2 as the ratio of 1:1 and 2:1 were applied to experimental pots as the levels of 0, 4, 8 and 12 EC. The ratio of germination of bread and durum wheat species were decreased and the date of emergence, tillering and spikelet were also delayed in accordance with the salt. Between the salt ratio was not determined significantly differences. Emergence and tillering dates of both wheat species were delayed much more applied salt as 2:1 ratio than that applied salt as 1:1 ratio. The length of whole plant and spike of both wheat species were shorted, dry weights of shoot and root, one thousand kernel weights of shoot and root, one thousand kernel weight and total kernel weight were decreased in accordance with the salt applications. IllIn botb wheat species, Na and CI concentrations of straw and kernel, and Na and CI uptake of straw were increased by applying salt While Ca, P and K concentrations of straw were increased, Ca, P and K concentrations of kernel and Ca, P and K uptake of straw were decreased by applying salt in both wheat species. Key Words: Salt tolerance, wheat species, growth stages, mineral element concentrations and uptake.
