Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between teachers' unethical computer using behaviors and computer self-efficacy perceptions. The research was conducted using the "Relational Scan Model" of descriptive research types. The research population consisted of teachers who actively worked in the primary and secondary school levels of public schools in the central districts of Ankara. Choosing the population sampling method was Stratified Sampling Method from Random Sampling Method. The study was conducted with 1317 teachers who were working in 81 schools in 8 central districts of Ankara. Three data collection tools were used in the research. Research data was gathered by a "Personal Information Form" to identify specific personal characteristics, "Unethical Computer Using Behavior Scale" which was created by Namlu and Odabaşı (2007) and "Computer-related Self-efficacy Perception Scale" was created by Aşkar and Umay(2001). "Personal Information Form" is consisting of 6 questions including demographic information such as gender, age, branch, years of service and receive training of informatics ethics. The second data collection tool, Unethical Computer Using Behavior Scale in 80 items under five factors including intellectual property, social impact, safety and quality, net integrity, information integrity used to determine preservice teachers' views on computer ethics. After factor analysis, four factors were established and scale items decreased to 64 items. The third data collection tool is the "Scale of Self-Perception of Perception on Computers" consisting of 18 items, examining teachers' computer self-efficacy perceptions. The SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program was used to analyze the collected data. Frequency, percentaging, mean, standard deviation, independent samples t- test, LSD test, the Kruskal-Wallis H test, Mann Whitney U test, ANOVA and correlational analysis were used. According to research results; Teachers' unethical computer using behaviors do not change according to where recieved training information ethics and branch. But sex, age, years of service, and informational ethic training situations affect to unethical computer using behaviors. Female teachers are more ethical than male teachers on computer ethics. As age and years of service increase, unethical computer using behaviors increase. It has been found out that people educated about information ethics are more unethically than those who do not. Self-efficacy perceptions of teachers are affected by sex, age, branch, year of service, the situation of receiving education of information ethics and where the education. Males self-efficacy perceptions were found to higher than females. It is seen that computer technology teachers' computer self-efficacy perceptions are higher than other teachers. The computer self-efficacy perceptions decreased as age and years of service increased. it was determined that the education of information ethics is an enhancing effect on computer self-efficacy perception. Information ethics education from universities is a more positive effect in terms of Computer Self-Effıcacy Perceptions compared to other institutions. As a result of the work, it has been determined that there is no relationship between the teachers' "Unethical Computer Using Behaviors" and "Computer Self-Effıcacy Perceptions". Key words. Computer Ethics, Non-ethical computer usage, unethical computer using, computer self-efficacy perception, teachers and information ethics, teachers' computer self-efficacy perception.
